Exodus 2:5-6 - Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her servant to get it. She opened it, and saw the child, and behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."

The Baby Moses for Little Kids

This map shows the Nile River which is where baby Moses was found by Pharaoh's daughter!
During the time when Moses was born, the people of Israel were slaves in Egypt.

Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, was worried that there would be too many Israelites to control if a war happened, so he sent out an order to throw the Hebrew baby boys into the Nile River!

After Moses' birth, his mother hid him for three months but when she couldn't keep him a secret any longer she put baby Moses in a basket that could float on water and sent it off onto the river. God protected Moses and made the basket float by Pharoah's daughter when she was bathing in the river. She knew he was a Hebrew baby but he was crying and she felt sorry for him.

Moses' sister was watching this happen the whole time, so she asked Pharaoh's daughter if she would want a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby and keep him healthy. She said yes! Moses' sister went home and got her mom; she was able to feed Moses until he grew older and the daughter of Pharaoh took him as her son.

God looks over His people, just like He watched and protected Moses. Not only was Moses kept safe, he was also fed and taken care of by his own mother! Remember that God is with you even when you feel all alone.

Exodus 2:10 - The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, and said, "Because I drew him out of the water."

The study of the baby Moses is very important in the study of the Bible, let's pray:

Dear Jesus, we thank you that your plans are greater than we can imagine. We thank you that you can use anyone. Help us to trust your promises and to be thankful for your mercy. We love you. In Jesus name... Amen!
